John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful discovered this patent and mailed it to Shane Speal several years ago. It shows a rectangle guitar that has a drum-type head as the soundboard. A drum foot pedal is connected to the guitar to add thump to the strum.
Sebastian added the note, "Where is it now that we NEED it?"
How would you even play this? From the drawing, it looks like you would be facing the strings if you were in a position to use the pedal. The body needs to be rotated 180 degrees, then you could play it more like an upright bass.
Shout out to John Sebastian and the Lovin' Spoonful!
That’s got street busker written all over it!!!
